Week 2 wasn't as exciting as week 1 in our opinion because of all the dropped balls and offenses not being able to score really any points. We saw a team in NY completely fall apart in a span of just 1 week. The best game of the week between Houston and St. Louis where P.J. Walker continued to prove he is the best player in the league. Tampa Bay is still without an offensive TD after 2 weeks. Landry Jones came back for Dallas and beat and LA team who finally got things clicking with their QB Josh Johnson who has a star receiver in Nelson Spruce. With all that being said, please enjoy our Week 2 XFL Power Rankings.

1. Houston Roughnecks 2-0 (HOU 28 - STL 24)

Hunter: P.J. Fucking Walker. Hands down the best player in this league. I guarantee after this season Walker will be on an NFL Roster. He single-handedly has more TD's in his first 2 games than some teams have combined. Cam Phillips, his go-to receiver is phenomenal hauling in all 3 TD's thrown by P.J.. Houston's front 4 is a scary sight for any opposing QB, their defense forced STL QB Jordan Ta'AMU to throw 2 INTs setting their offense up with incredible field position. If I'm another team and I see Houston coming up, I'm shitting myself. This team will represent the west in the XFL Championship game. Houston and DC will have to play each other in order for one or another to lose their first game.
1c3: The Houston Roughnecks proved that they were the best team in the league today. They took on a tough, well-coached St. Louis Battlehawks team. Houston dominated for basically the entirety of the game, keeping the high powered Battlehawk attack in check. Houston has a matchup next week with 0-2 Tampa Bay, which means they should probably be headed to a nice 3-0 start.
MVP: Cam Phillips - 8/10 Recs 63 Yards, 3 TDs
Change of position : +/- 0 (Week 1 Ranking #1)
2. DC Defenders 2-0 (DC 27 - NY 0)

Hunter: If you read last week's power rankings you'll remember me stating that I though DC was good but there was nothing special about them. I stand by that statement after week 2, but there is something I would like to add to that. DC is an extremely solid and talented team on both sides of the ball. By saying nothing special I mean there is nothing flashy jumping off the screen, they just come in and win. Cardale is surrounded by probably the most complete receiving cores in the league. The running game has just over 100 yards on the ground thanks to backs Pumphrey & Pressley. The Defender's defense forced 3 turnovers against an abysmal New York offense. Again DC did look slow and disjointed for very short periods on offense, but once this team clicks completely, I can't see them losing to anyone after racking up nearly 400 yards total.
1c3: It was an all-around dominant performance for the DC Defenders in week two. The defense was able to rattle Guardians quarterback Matt McGloin all game long, to the point where he went on an all-time tirade during his halftime interview. The Defenders proved to everyone that they're a force to be reckoned with and will definitely be in title contention at the end of the season.
MVP: Cardale Jones - 276 Yards, 62% Comp %, 2 TD's, 1 Int, 91.7 QB Rating
Change of position : +1 (Week 1 Ranking : #3)
3. St. Louis Battlehawks 1-1 (STL 24 - HOU 28)

Hunter : St. Louis came so close to dethroning Houston from the top spot but a failed drive late in the game cost them that chance. Young QB Jordan Ta'AMU had an up and down game throwing for 3 TDs and 2 INTs. The Battlehawks offense remains the most balanced in the league with 126 Yards on the ground and 264 yards in the air. This balance allows for STL to try new things as the defense can't adjust to just one style of play, and this is what keeps them is games. STL's defense was solid in this game holding the explosive Houston offense to just under 250 yards of total offense which is not an easy task. If the Battlehawks can find their groove and make smarter decisions on offense they will 100% be a playoff team.
1c3: Nothing to be ashamed about if you're a Battlehawks fan. Despite early struggles, they fought back and only ended up losing by four points. Jordan Ta'amu threw two costly picks, setting up great field position for the Roughnecks. The Battlehawks cemented themselves as a contender, despite the loss.
MVP: Jordan Ta’AMU - 30/37 81% completion percentage 281 yards 3 TDs 2 INTs,
8 Rush Atts, 32 Yards, 1 TD
Change of position : +1 (Week 1 Ranking : #4)
4. Dallas Renegades 1-1 (DAL 25 - LA 18)

Hunter: This game was very very stagnant up until the 4th quarter. Mostly everybody knew that Cameron Artis-Payne was supposed to be the best back in the league, and after a quiet 1st week, he showed why those statements were made in this game. He absolutely gashed a LA defense who has their 2 DEF coordinator in 2 weeks. Landry Jones finished with 300 yards, 1TD on 70% completion percentage but threw 2 picks. He looked very rusty and threw some very questionable balls. When Dallas clicked, they were scary but it only lasted for a very limited time. If the Renegades can start meshing more often and sooner in the game, they will easily make the playoffs.
1c3: Landry Jones had a little bit of rust, but ultimately was able to lead Dallas to a road victory over L.A. Jones will continue to improve with more snaps and Dallas's offense will start to look like a well-oiled machine within the coming weeks.
MVP: Cameron Artis-Panye - 99 Yards on 14 attempts for 2 TDs, 5/5 Rec 32 yards
Change of position : +1 (Week 1 Ranking : #5)
5. LA Wildcats 0-2 (LA 18 - DAL 25)

Hunter : The Wildcats looked a little bit better this week with QB Josh Johnson at the helm. He had close 200 yards and 2 TDs on only 53% completion percentage. Nelson Spruce who had a breakout week opening weekend continued his fantastic play this week. The former Rams wideout had 2 TDs on 6 catches for 89 yards. The running game couldn't really get moving which forced the Wildcats to look to the air only racking up a total of 57 yards on 18 attempts between 4 players. The defense forced 2 turnovers but were torched late in the game for long touchdowns.
1c3: The L.A. Wildcats looked a lot better this week compared to last week. While the offense had multiple crucial turnovers in the red zone, they were able to move the ball pretty effectively. If they're able to clean up their mistakes, they could definitely fight for a playoff spot.
MVP: Nelson Spruce - 6/9 Recs 89 Yards, 2TDs
Change of position : +1 (Week 1 Ranking : #6)
6. Seattle Dragons 1-1 (SEA 17 - TB 9)

Hunter : The Defense came to play forcing 3 INTs with one of them being returned for a short TD. LB Marcel Frazier picked off a screen pass thrown by Quinton Flowers at the 2-yard line and easily fell into the end zone for 6. The offense needs major improvement, only racking up 199 yards on the day. QB Brandon Silvers went 7/18 (39%) on the day for 91 yards. Kenneth Farrow and Trey Williams both had 45 yards on the ground. Week 1 breakout Austen Proehl was silent with 1 reception for -1 yards. The only "star" of the game was receiver Keenan Reynolds who had 3 catches for 87 yards and a TD. The receivers overall dropped a lot of balls and Silvers couldn't seem to connect either. If this team wants to break the top 4, they need drastic improvements on offense.
1c3: The Seattle Dragons bounced back from a tough week one loss with a dominant defensive performance against Tampa Bay. They still struggled mightily on offense, although they did get a long passing touchdown to get them on the board. They took the lead when Vipers quarterback Taylor Cornelius threw an interception on a screen pass.
MVP : Keenan Reynolds - 3/8 R/T, 87 yards, 1 TD
Change of position : +1 (Week 1 Ranking : #7)
7. NY Guardians 1-1 (NY 0 - DC 27)

Hunter : Wow. I couldn't have been more wrong about this NY team. A team that initially held Tampa to 3 points and scored 23, they completely fell apart in their game Vs. DC. It really makes you think how bad Tampa is. Matt McGloin looked horrendous and was eventually benched for back up Marquise Williams who looked a little more put together. NY couldn't do anything on offense finishing with only 137 yards total. Their defense took the swiss cheese approach and was absolutely sliced about by 12 gauge Jones. I really don't know where this team goes from here, I would suggest keeping Williams as the starter because it doesn't look like McGloin wants to participate anymore. Their defense needs to find whatever they did week one and go back to that or else they will continue to sit at the bottom quarter of our power rankings
1c3: New York is terrible. Their defense is ok, but their offense is terrible. Matt McGloin needs to go. Not only did he play bad, but he basically called out the entire team and coaching staff. I wouldn't be surprised if he were benched next week for former North Carolina product Marquise Williams. Still, New York needs to find their niche on offense, because they don't have an identity.
MVP : D'Juan Hines - 1 Int, 1 Pass Deflection, 1 TKL, 3 Assists
Change of position : -5 (Week 1 Ranking : #2)
8. Tampa Bay Vipers 0-2 (TB 9 - SEA 17)

Hunter : The QB play is still very unstable as the Vipers would switch off drives between Quinton Flowers and Taylor Cornelius. Their starter Aaron Murray was "hurt" and didn't practice this week, after his horrendous performance last week Vs. NY. His backups weren't much better going for 19/34 for 148 net passing yards and 3 INTs. The key for this team needs to be to run the ball. The only times Tampa was really any bit successful was when they handed the ball off to De'Veon Smith or Jacques Patrick. This team has gone 2 weeks without a single offensive TD. The defense was mediocre and doesn't really have an identity, they kind of just exist when it's their time to trot out onto the field. They did come up with a pick 6 in the 3rd quarter by Tarvarus McFadden for 78 yards. If this team carries on with Trestman the can expect to be 0-10 and never make their way to being a top 4 team.
1c3: The Tampa Bay Vipers simply haven't been able to get anything going on offense in the first two weeks. Taylor Cornelius took a majority of the snaps at quarterback today in place of an injured Aaron Murray and he couldn't get much going either. Quinton Flowers also took snaps at quarterback and continues to be used as a swiss army knife. Something needs to change for the Vipers, otherwise, they'll be stuck in the purgatory of the XFL.
MVP : Tarvarus McFadden - 1 INT returned for a TD (78 Yards), 2 Pass Deflections
Change of position : +/- 0 (Week 1 Ranking : #8)
