The Nagy Diaries: NFL Refs Hate Me and I Hate Them

Dear Diary,

Have you ever felt like the deck was stacked against you? Not because of who you are, or how you carry yourself, but because of your status as a very handsome, supremely talented rookie quarterback? Same here. I can't help but feel such innate compassion and sorrow for MY quarterback and face of the franchise — Justin Fields.

The Bears just lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a national stage, and Justin was able to grace the national public with a flawless performance for a young man who was going against one of the best defenses in the NFL, in an intoxicating environment like Heinz Field. Despite the close loss, there is hope.

We've found our Luke Skywalker/Aaron Rodgers/Derrick Rose. He was graceful getting out of the pocket, since he was tasked with creating plays out of structure due to a less than spectacular offensive line in front of him and yet another atrocious coaching performance behind him. It's almost as if our general manager, Ryan Pace, and head coach, Matt Nagy, want him to fail. Now, I know that's a ridiculous statement since they're coaching and managing for their jobs, but my eyes tell me that they've done everything in their power for that to be true. But Justin simply won't be denied. He's routinely making plays that simply shouldn't be made by a 22-year old quarterback. And he's making it look easy.

Did TJ Watt have 3 sacks? Sure. Did the refs do everything in their God (Roger Goodell) given power to prevent the Bears from winning this game? Absolutely. But the only thing that matters this season is Justin's progression towards becoming an elite quarterback, and moral victories, so that way our record doesn't look good enough to retain The Bald Guy at the end of the season.

Love,
