You probably haven’t heard of the Maryland based 15 -soon to be- 16 year old emcee that goes by the name of “Redveil”, but you will have soon enough with the release of his new song and visual entitled “Soulfood.” This track specifically touches on self love and the come up. The track also features a beautiful soul sample with Redveil’s laid back flows and bars. The video, directed by Tyler Shuler, features a dope film aesthetic and Redveil walking around and rapping in his neighborhood. By far my favorite part of the video is how perfectly it pairs with the track’s nonchalant vibe and how its seamless transitions fit with the beat of the song. Although he is only 15, Redveil touches on mature topics through his storytelling: From internalized racism, police brutality, to personal strife, and spirituality. Redveil demonstrates that his artistic maturity is years beyond many emcees his age. This PG County rapper is not one to sleep on.
