Last month, Philadelphia-based artist Tony DeShayes released “Processing Love” on all streaming platforms. This single coincides with a recent revamp of his “¡SÒY SUNDAY!” series of drops, a weekly release by the singer/songwriter showcasing his versatility and creative scope — two tools that few artists of DeShayes' size possess simultaneously.

DeShayes' newest release is yet another leap in his musical progression. His 2020 was largely defined by refinement and collaboration — just two months into the new year, it seems evident that perfecting his craft has paid dividends. “Throne,” released in late January, is punchy and clever — DeShayes' wordplay feels effortless, but presents itself concisely on a beat it was born for. Just a week later, he gave his listeners “A Ton,” ripping his heart out in true storyteller fashion over a beat that feels akin to Travis Scott’s “Coffee Bean” — string-laden, percussive and infectiously smooth. “Processing Love” is a personification of his best musical style. DeShayes is audibly comfortable here — just a few lines into the opening verse, it becomes clear just how “in his element” Tony feels on tracks built to showcase his vocal range. The song’s arrangement is simple, featuring just a handful of repeated chords — but there’s brilliance in minimalism — as this allows his voice to do the heavy lifting, something it’s well capable of.
Tony DeShayes caught the attention of many consumers late last summer with “42,” a certified club classic featuring the well-established Guapdad 4000. The Cherry Hill native will look to carry momentum into the spring and summer with more releases as part of “¡SÒY SUNDAY!” Keep your ears peeled.
