Last week saw a heatwave from Future, Polo G, Trippie Redd & PARTYNEXTDOOR, IDK & YungManny, Lil Skies, Tory Lanez, Migos, Smokepurpp, Charli XCX, and more.

#5 - “Racks 2 Skinny” by Migos
The three Migos linked back up for “Racks 2 Skinny,” a DJ Durel-produced banger headlining their new #MigoMonday series.
The beat is grimy and all three artists float on it, but this track is nothing too groundbreaking. In all honesty, it’s boring and watered-down compared to their most celebrated hits from projects like Culture or YRN. This one is really just more of the same old, same old being recycled.
“Racks 2 Skinny” was released alongside a music video directed by Joseph Desrosiers Jr.

#4 - “Excitement” by Trippie Redd & PARTYNEXTDOOR
This is a collaboration that I personally never saw coming, but the two distinct artists mesh well together on this smooth single.
Produced by OZ, Nik D, and Deats, “Excitement” is expected to be a single off Trippie’s forthcoming album, Pegasus. Trippie has shown glimpses of his R&B range on tracks such as “TR666” with Swae Lee and “Wish” with Diplo, so we could likely see this sonic trend continue on Pegasus.
“Excitement” is perfect for a late-night cruise or a rainy day in bed.

#3 - “495” by IDK & YungManny
This track is stacked, featuring Juicy J, Rico Nasty, Big Flock, Big JAM, and Weensey.
IDK announced that the track was made for Kevin Durant’s Showtime documentary Basketball County: In the Water, for which IDK served as the music supervisor & composer. The title “495” pays homage to the Capital Beltway (I-495) that goes through the DMV – the home of each artist on this track, as well as KD himself.

#2 - High Off Life by Future
After dropping two gems last year, Future Hendrix continued his hotstreak with his eighth studio album.
High Off Life is a solid showcase of what Hendrix has been cooking up over the past year. He executed his delivery on impactful tracks like “Up The River,” “Pray for a Key,” and “Accepting My Flaws” while recruiting perfect features for bangers like “All Bad” with Lil Uzi Vert, “Trillionaire” with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, “Harlem Shake” with Young Thug, and “Solitaires” with Travis Scott.
High Off Life isn’t totally on-par with Future’s best work (DS2, 56 Nights, Beast Mode, Monster, Purple Reign), but the quality is still present. High Off Life was worth the wait and will be heavily present in the soundtrack of the weirdest summer ever.

#1 - THE GOAT by Polo G
Promising Chicago talent Polo G made a bold statement in titling his sophomore project “THE GOAT”, but tried his hardest to follow up on that claim by giving us his best work to-date.
Polo G is undeniably a product of the Chicago drill legends and pop-trap trailblazers that came before him, but he is heads and shoulders above the rest of the rappers in his lane right now. Unlike many other artists in his lane, Polo G isn’t content with just saying anything that rhymes nor is he content with releasing a half-assed product just for stream money. Not Polo G.
Polo G likes to paint you a picture. Even when he says something basic like, “told 'em I was gonna be somethin, that broke shit made me sick, big appetite with a weak stomach,” it’s vivid. Polo G is a stellar storyteller on tracks like “Trials and Tribulations,” “Beautiful Pain (Losin My Mind),” “33,” “Martin and Gina,” and “Chinatown” while making an honorable foray into sociopolitical consciousness on “Wishing For A Hero,” where he flipped 2Pac’s “Changes”.
THE GOAT is nearly a no-skip album and one of the best rap projects of the year thus far. Keep your eye on Polo G; in a few years' time, he could be the King of Chicago.
