Last week in music ended February with a bang, with blockbuster releases from Lil Baby, G Herbo, Swae Lee, 2 Chainz, Young Nudy, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Amine, NLE Choppa, and more.

Let's talk some music:
#5 - “Someone Said” by Swae Lee
Building off his infamous “someone said” line on Travis Scott and Drake’s “Sicko Mode”, Swae Lee has released a single of the same name.
He promised his fans that he would turn the line into a whole song in October of 2018. A year and some change later, we finally received the subpar song.
Swae spends most of the track crooning with a high-pitched voice, even more so than usual. After not dropping music for some time, it’s evident that he wanted to return with something simple and homogeneous with the rest of the mainstream.
I’ll admit that this track is mildly catchy, but it’s disappointing when compared to previous gems in his discography.

#4 - Anyways by Young Nudy
Atlanta rising star Young Nudy finally released his debut studio album following a successful string of mixtapes, including his most recent Sli’merre effort with close collaborator Pi’erre Bourne.
The unorthodox Monday morning release date of Anyways fits well with Nudy’s unorthodox style of trap music. He meshes both the grit and high-pitched melodic elements synonymous with Atlanta rap while floating over unusual, futuristic beats with the same energy as a lighthearted freestyle session. Nudy’s outside-of-the-box delivery is goofy and erratic at times, but is ultimately refreshing in an increasingly oversaturated trap landscape.
As he proclaims on “Blue Cheese Salad”, he only makes “stoner music”, “gangster music”, “killer music”, “f*** your ho music”, and “take your ho music”.
Standout tracks like “GTA Lyfestyle”, “A Nudy Story”, “Cap Dem”, and “No Comprende” show that Nudy is just getting started.

#3 - “SPLIT DECISION” by PARTYNEXTDOOR
After a four-year hiatus, a new PND album is finally on the horizon.
Partymobile is expected to drop March 27; “SPLIT DECISION” is the fourth lead single off of the long-awaited album. This moody track is beyond wavy, full of the drugged-out, soft and melodic sonics that have established PND as one of R&B’s most unique talents.
If the rest of Partymobile sounds anything like this track, it could very well be his best body of work yet.

#2 - My Turn by Lil Baby
QC all-star Lil Baby has returned to the top of trap after a quiet 2019.
His sophomore studio album, My Turn proves that Baby was hard at work while out of the spotlight last year. His lyricism, flow, and delivery are all markedly improved from his previous releases, and he meshes with his features better than ever before. With assists from Young Thug, Future, Lil Wayne, Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, and Moneybagg Yo, there are surprisingly few boring moments on the 20-track album.
My Turn is Baby’s most promising project to-date.

#1 - PTSD by G Herbo
Chicago native G Herbo finally dropped the long-awaited PTSD after many months of teasing and promoting the passion project.
Essentially a concept album, PTSD enters Herbo’s headspace deeper than any of his past works. The album title is derived from the trauma he’s experienced in the Windy City streets - losing loved ones, fearing for his own life, being surrounded by crime and poverty, making sacrifices and tough decisions. The album intriguingly addresses trauma while also attempting to uplift those who are in similar life situations.
The album’s production is stellar, carried out by C-Sick, D.A. Doman, DJ L, Don Cannon, and a handful of others. The guest list is even more impressive, with features from Chance the Rapper, Juice WRLD, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Polo G, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and more.
As a long-time Herbo fan, I can say that this album was well worth the wait.
