Yes, Jimmy Butler is a free agent. A free agent for a shoe contract.

Originally supposed to end on September 30th, 2020, Jimmy Butler’s sneaker deal with Jordan brand was ended early. For the past few months, he has been a shoe contract free agent. With great success this season, it will be a major decision which company he signs with next. Being one of the most fashion-forward players in the league, he is a high-profile sneaker free agent.

As a first-round draft pick in 2011 from Marquette to the Chicago Bulls, Butler first signed with Adidas as a rookie. After three seasons, he ended that deal to sign with Jordan Brand, even taking a 75% pay cut to do so. With Jordan, Butler had a “Jimmy Buckets” collection as well as t-shirts and hats. He even collaborated on a pair of special release Jordan 29 lows. Butler was named Most Improved Player in the NBA and an NBA All-Star at the end of the 2014-2015 season. And this season, his team, the Miami Heat, is posing as a major threat on the court and throughout the playoffs.

From Paris Fashion Week to features in Vogue and GQ, Jimmy Butler’s fashion sets him apart. His personal style and approach to fashion are not about hype brands, but rather putting pieces together to style an outfit. Big statement jackets, jean jackets, bold patterns, and flannels, paired with a new pair of shoes, sets his outfits apart. It’s like a mix of formal and casual with statement pieces. But his fashion is lowkey, it’s not all over his Instagram. Subtle drip.

Would previous teammate Dwyane Wade have interest in signing Butler to his Way of Wade sub brand? With Puma and New Balance trying to break waves in shoe endorsement deals, could we expect to see this fashion-icon take a risk into something new? Would Adidas take him back?

Last Tuesday, Miami Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks in game 5 (4-1) advancing them into the Eastern Conference Finals. NoThis will be the first time since 2014. Beating the league MVP Giannis was a big feat. Butler is leading his team on the court, posing as a dangerous threat to other teams. In Tuesday’s game, Butler was wearing Jordans.

2019-20 SEASON STATS:

PTS: 19.9

REB: 6.7

AST: 6.0

PER: 23.61

Focusing on training in the bubble has left little time to think about shoes. Until then, Butler is looking for a great fit for his next contract and endorsement deal for shoes. And we are looking forward to what this former Chicago Bulls icon will do on and off the court.
