Air Maxes are perhaps the most iconic and influential collection of shoes. Since 1987, these shoes have stood the test of time while revolutionizing sneaker culture. And, it's all thanks to Tinker Hatfield—an architect by trade and a shoe designer at Nike. He was inspired by the Centre Pompidou in Paris to design his first Air Max, released in 1987. From there, the family of Air Maxes was birthed. Each March 26, we take a day to celebrate all that they have become. Happy 34th Air Max Day!
