D Rose 1 Retro 'Concrete'

The timing to retro a shoe worn during a historic MVP season from one of Chicago's homegrown heroes, could not be any more perfect. After just recently releasing the D Rose 10, Adidas drops images of a long awaited return, the D Rose 1. Seeing these at first glance gave me an unmatched amount of nostalgia, as I am sure it did for most growing up idolizing Derrick Rose. The shoes released Saturday of All-Star weekend in Chicago, amidst all the the other crazy All-Star weekend releases.

A new colorway for the first retro of a signature sneaker isn't always going to make a lot of people happy. But with these, they hit it out of the park. The roses graphic on the medial side of the shoe is all this shoe needed. A simple color combination to contrast a busy shoe, having a TPU heel cup and GeoFit technology around the ankle. But don't get it twisted, the shoe comes with a few new features never before seen on a D Rose 1 model. They toned down the 'hoop shoe' look by not incorporating the famous Cilia Traction Surface, the translucent pods that produced zero slippage while on the court.

The grey suede upper confirms it most likely is intended to be a lifestyle shoe, but don't be surprised if you see them on a court near you, especially in Chicago.
