This week we take a look at the best shoes that dropped this week. A rather weak list this week but headlined by one of the most controversial drops we've seen in awhile. We got some nostalgia, something new and a whole lot of hype. Let's dive right into it.
Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s Hi/Low Chinatown Market UV

Release Date: August 2nd
Retail Price: $95 (Low Top) $100 (High Top)
Resell Price: $129 (Low Top) $164 (High Top)
Converse and Chinatown Market Collab for a new color changing project. Chinatown Market is known for their products being more out there to that give off DIY vibes. These eggshell colored Hi and Low chucks change to an iridescent blue, purple, orange and pink color when hit by UV lighting. Originally released early at ComplexCon Chicago, they have now had their public release and have now sold out on Converse's website.
Air Jordan 4 "Cool Grey"

Release Date: August 1st
Retail Price: $190
Resell Price: $209
The Cool Grey 4s have returned for the first time since 2004. OGs have been waiting 15 years for these to drop and Jordan Brand made sure they got them by making them a general release. Salute to the brand for keeping them as close to the originals as possible making these a must cop. You can't go wrong with grey suede and a chromed out Jumpman on the backtab. Make sure you grab your pair now before you have to wait another 15 years for a rerelease.
Yeezy Day (Big oof)
Release Date: August 2nd
On August 1st, Adidas announced a 24 hour countdown queue on their website. Yeezy Mafia announced they were par taking in the event. Rumors floated around until a full drop list leaked online.

27 drops happened the next morning, starting with a whole bunch of bricks.
BRICKS (Noun, Plural) \'briks\ - a shoe that doesn't have resell value

6:00 am EST was the first drop of the Butter V2s and Frozen Yellows. The way the dropped worked was you head to either yeezymafia.com or adidas.com (whichever the shoe was released on), you add your size to cart, hit check out and the aids commences. You stare at a spinning circle saying "YOU ARE IN LINE TO PURCHASE PLEASE DO NOT REFRESH" At that point, the shoes have been out for a least 3 minutes and the bots have gotten all of them.
BOTS (noun, plural) \bat\ - Software used to automate the online checkout process by instantly checking out when a shoe is released.
Side note: Yeezy Mafia and Adidas are two of the more difficult releases to hit on limited kicks. That’s solely (no pun intended) because they do first come first serve releases and give an exact release time. This allows people to set up there bots to hit exactly when the shoe drops. That’s why Nike created SNKRS to combat the bots. They release shoes at 9:00 am CT and do raffle only for limited releases. So the queue will be 10 or 15 minutes to join and from there its randomly generated who gets the shoe. A bot’s worst nightmare.
I personally sat on the first few releases till I decided to try my luck on the Triple White 350 v2s. From there, I sat in line with my phone unlocked for 3 hours. 3 HOURS. The shoe wasn’t even available for 3 hours, it sold out right away but Yeezy Mafia never kicked me out of the site and just continued to tell me I was in line. After that, I attempted to hop on the more hype releases but ended with the same result. I then took to instagram and Twitter to see if anyone actually got a pair of any of the releases and holy shit people were pissed.
Even Yeezy Mafia got in on the fun.
With all the build up and surrounding hype of the first ever "Yeezy Day," it sure did let everyone down. There were some hype shoes in the drops but the stock was super low especially on the Beluga 2.0s were there were only 20 pairs dropped. 20! Fingers crossed if this ever happens again, it happens the right way.
