Burbs NFL Mock Draft 1.0 with Dobbs and 1c3

I usually start off with a couple of paragraphs on my thoughts and what to expect from the article, but y'all know the deal. NFL Draft is about two months away, Dobbs and I are going to have a few more coming out. Enjoy!

NFL Mock Draft 1.0

1. Cincinnati Bengals

1c3: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

There’s no question. Joe Burrow will be going number one overall in the draft. Cincinnati needs a quarterback and Burrow’s the best one. You can’t pass on a guy who just had one of the greatest statistical seasons in college football history. The knock on Burrow would be his arm strength, but he does everything else at such a high level that it shouldn’t be a problem.

Dobbs: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

Joe Burrow is simply the guy at #1 this season. He is coming off of an absolutely historic CFB season at QB and seeing as QB is the most important position on the modern football field, the Bengals don’t really have much of another option.

2. Washington Redskins

1c3: Chase Young, EDGE, OSU

Chase Young is widely considered the best player in the draft. Getting him at number two is an absolute steal. He’s a physically dominant specimen with great production to match. Do you think that the Bosa brothers are good? This guy was even better than them and has the potential to be a perennial all-pro caliber pass rush for the next decade.

Dobbs: Chase Young, EDGE, OSU

Chase Young is an absolute monster coming out of Ohio State and quite simply the most polished pass-rushing prospect coming out of college in a very long time, he is almost a must grab being available at #2.

3. Detroit Lions

1c3: Jeff Okudah, CB, OSU

Jeff Okudah is the best corner in the draft hands down. He’s got all the boxes checked, great athlete, fantastic in man coverage, great instincts. It’s really hard to find a weakness with Okudah. He goes to a Detroit Lions team that struggled to defend the pass, although they do have a quality corner in Darius Slay. Slay and Okudah instantly become one of the most dangerous cornerback duos in the league

Dobbs: Jeff Okudah, CB, OSU

Jeff Okudah landing in Detroit seems completely inevitable at this point, as he is easily the most polished man to man cornerback in this draft. Whether or not the Lions make the Dolphins trade up for Tua and pick him at #5, or they select him at #3, I see no way the Lions don’t end up with Okudah to replace Darius Slay (who is very likely out the door in free agency).

4. New York Giants

1c3: Mekhi Becton, T, Louisville

Mekhi Becton’s rise to the top of draft boards has been meteoric. He’s massive, standing at 6”7 and weighing 350 pounds. However, he moves like someone who’s 250 pounds. The New York Giants need a lot of help on the line, Becton is a great fit who can protect Daniel Jones for many years.

Dobbs: Mekhi Becton, T, Louisville

Mekhi Becton coming out of Louisville is a run blocking animal who is still very raw and has plenty of potential to improve, but will still make a noticeable impact as a rookie. His improvement over the course of the season

5. Miami Dolphins

1c3: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

If Tua didn’t get injured, he would be in contention for the first pick. When healthy, Tagovailoa is an extremely accurate quarterback, with the ability to fire an absolute fastball or even take a little something off and throw a pretty touch pass. His ability to throw the football can be compared to Aaron Rodgers. The concern is the multiple injuries Tua has suffered, especially the last one. It was similar to the injury that cost Bo Jackson his career. However, if he’s healthy, it’s a great choice for the Miami Dolphins.

Dobbs: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

All signs point to the Dolphins taking Tua Tagovailoa at #5 overall. Tagovailoa could have potentially been competing for the #1 overall pick with Joe Burrow right now if his hip was not injured. Nonetheless, he looks like the 2nd best overall QB in the draft easily and should likely be snagged by the QB-needing Dolphins early.

6. Los Angeles Chargers

1c3: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

With Phillip Rivers on his way out, the Los Angeles Chargers find his replacement with Justin Herbert. Herbert has ideal size for an NFL quarterback, along with great arm strength and underrated athleticism. He reminds me a lot of Blaine Gabbert, which kind of scares me, but hopefully, he can overcome some inconsistencies he had at Oregon.

Dobbs: Derrick Brown, IDL, Auburn

Chargers GM Tom Telesco recently said he likes his “internal options” at QB and it wouldn’t really make sense to be a smokescreen. So I believe the Chargers will take the best value pick on the board and fill a huge need at interior pass rusher by selecting Derrick Brown out of Auburn.

7. Carolina Panthers

1c3: Derrick Brown, IDL, Auburn

Derrick Brown is a machine. He’s going to be a force in the middle who can stuff the run, as well as get to the quarterback. With the Panthers likely losing multiple players on their line in free agency, Brown makes a ton of sense here.

Dobbs: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State

This may seem a bit high to have Jordan Love right now, but hey, this is the pre-combine mock and I really like Love’s skill set for the modern NFL. An absolute cannon for an arm and feet that make plays in the right offense. I think Carolina could actually be a great fit for Love and surprise a lot of people.

8. Arizona Cardinals

1c3: Jedrick Wills, T, Alabama

Wills, like Becton, is climbing up draft boards. He’s not as polished as a guy like Andrew Thomas but has a higher upside. The Cardinals need to do a better job of protecting Kyler Murray in year two and it starts by going with Wills.

Dobbs: Jedrick Wills, T, Alabama

Jedrick Wills Jr. looks to be the most complete offensive tackle on tape and will very likely make an immediate impact wherever he is selected. Landing in Arizona seems most logical as their biggest priority should certainly be protecting Kyler Murray for years to come.

9. Jacksonville Jaguars

1c3: Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson

My favorite player in the draft. Isaiah Simmons is 6”4 250 pounds and possesses world-class athleticism. He can play all over the field as well. I have him slotted here for right now, as the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for someone to replace Telvin Smith’s production. If he falls all the way to 9, this could be the best pick in the entire draft.

Dobbs: Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson

Isaiah Simmons looks to be the best hybrid defender out of this class and the kind of player that can completely change games with his ability to play multiple positions in the secondary. The Jaguars defense would be a place where a guy like Simmons can thrive.

10. Cleveland Browns

1c3: Andrew Thomas, T, Georgia

Andrew Thomas is dropping slightly, but he’s still one of the best players in the draft. He was the key cog on the Bulldogs offensive line, which helped pave the way for De’Andre Swift and James Cook. With the Browns needing a tackle, Thomas is the perfect option.

Dobbs: Andrew Thomas, T, Georgia

Andrew Thomas is a huge body that has seen a lot of tough defensive lines in college, and yet he was still easily one of the best tackles in CFB. Even making an impact as a true freshman back in 2017. The Browns desperately need O-line help and Thomas can be an immediate impact guy.

11. New York Jets

1c3: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

Many questions on who’s going to be the first receiver taken. For me, it’s CeeDee Lamb. While Lamb isn’t the fastest guy or the best route runner, he’s fantastic after the catch and catches nearly everything thrown his way. But my favorite thing about Lamb is his willingness to block. He’s thrown some nasty blocks this year to free up his guys. With the Jets looking to find playmakers for Sam Darnold, they go with Lamb.

Dobbs: Tristan Wirfs, OL, Iowa

Tristan Wirfs is another huge tackle in this class who has fantastic tape throughout his time in college. The Jets could go another direction here, but I suspect they will snag the big body who can make an immediate impact by protecting Sam Darnold.

12. Oakland Raiders

1c3: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

The best route runner in the draft. Jeudy put up a monster final game, going for over 200 yards and two touchdowns. Didn’t put up as good of numbers as teammates Henry Ruggs or Devante Smith, but has the highest ceiling out of the three. He struggled with drops at times, which could be a concern. However, the good definitely outweighs the bad with Jeudy and he’ll be a force next to Tyrell Williams and Darren Waller.

Dobbs: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

I have the Raiders adding a much-needed weapon for Derrick Carr at #12. It's a toss-up depending on who you ask, but for me, Jerry Jeudy should be the first receiver selected in this draft. It definitely should either be him or CeeDee Lamb, but I just have to go with Jeudy for his ability to separate and his dangerous speed/acceleration.

13. Indianapolis Colts

1c3: Tristan Wirfs, OL, Iowa

Tristan Wirfs was in the top ten for most of the year, but slides to 13 in my initial mock. He has the versatility to move inside to guard as well, which increases his value to a team. The Colts have multiple offensive linemen headed for free agency, including starting tackle Anthony Costanzo, so grabbing Wirfs would make a lot of sense for them.

Dobbs: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

I believe the Colts will snag Herbert as their QB of the future here no matter how raw his talent still is. Many would agree that Herbert’s play isn’t very consistent and he still needs to improve in a lot of areas, but his size and throwing power alone make him a project worth taking on.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

1c3: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Fulton struggled in the title game but had a very productive senior season otherwise. Tampa has gone corner a lot recently without finding much luck. However, Sean Murphy-Bunting, who was drafted last year looks like a steal. Pairing Fulton with Murphy-Bunting gives Tampa Bay a much brighter outlook in the secondary.

Dobbs: K'Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU

K'Lavon Chaisson is definitely a very raw prospect if there is one in this draft. But his pure athleticism and potential to develop into a great 2-way linebacker seems very apparent, and I don’t think the Buccaneers will pass on it.

15. Denver Broncos

1c3: Javon Kinlaw, IDL, South Carolina

This is one of my favorite fits for any player in the draft. Javon Kinlaw is going to be a stud of an inside pass rusher. The game I’ll remember from Kinlaw was his performance against Georgia, where he made the bulldogs look like little puppies. Kinlaw also put on a great showing at the senior bowl down in Mobile. Putting Kinlaw inside with Bradley Chubb and Von Miller makes for a fearsome pass-rushing trio.

Dobbs: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

Like I said before, I completely believe that CeeDee Lamb is the 2nd best receiver in this class. However, he is a different type of good than Jeudy is. Lamb is the guy who will catch almost anything you throw his way and forces tons of missed tackles. He is also a quite physical blocker which is a fantastic trait to get from a young receiver.

16. Atlanta Falcons

1c3: A.J. Epenesa, EDGE, Iowa

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they aren’t bringing back edge rusher Vic Beasley. Insert A.J. Epenesa who can play any spot on the line with his 6”6 frame. Atlanta could go corner if Fulton ends up falling, but Epenesa at 16 is pretty good value for them.

Dobbs: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU

On tape, Patrick Queen looks to easily be the best interior linebacker in this class. He flies to the ball to make plays when they are there and is very patient letting plays develop until he is at an angle to strike whenever he has to. If you want to get a taste of Queen’s playmaking ability, watch #8 on the first 4 snaps of LSU’s defense when they played Texas earlier last season. He would fit great here as the perfect replacement to De’vondre Campbell if he leaves in free agency this off-season.

17. Dallas Cowboys

1c3: Grant Delpit, S, LSU

One of the better value picks in the first round. Delpit is a playmaker at the safety position, with great instincts and great athleticism. He’s strictly a ballhawk, which means he won’t be playing the run, so he’ll need to be paired with someone who can do that. With Dallas desperate for secondary help, Delpit makes a lot of sense.

Dobbs: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

With the Cowboys likely losing Byron Jones to free agency this off-season, expect the Cowboys to make a move at Kristian Fulton from LSU’s championship defense to replace him. Fulton has plenty of experience in the SEC and should be playing at a pretty high level in the NFL right from the jump.

18. Miami Dolphins Via Pittsburgh Steelers

1c3: Josh Jones, T, Houston

Josh Jones performed really well at the Senior Bowl down in Mobile. With the Dolphins needing a tackle after dealing away Laremy Tunsil, Jones should be the pick here.

Dobbs: Josh Jones, T, Houston

Josh Jones is the perfect player for the Dolphins to select right here. In obvious need of an offensive tackle; Jones is one who will be a bit of a project which is why he will most likely fall this far in the draft. However, his ceiling could be dangerously high if his technique issues can be fixed.

19. Oakland Raiders Via Chicago Bears (RIP)

1c3: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama

Oakland was one of the worst pass defenses in football. They need help in the secondary and Diggs is probably the best guy available. Jon Gruden sticks with Derek Carr at QB and opts to try and build a stronger defense.

Dobbs: Javon Kinlaw, IDL, South Carolina

Javon Kinlaw is built to potentially be an absolute animal stuffing the run and rushing the pass at the next level. He as well will be a bit of a project as far as coaching up his technique and approach. But his upside is definitely on the high end of this draft and he would be a great fit for the Raiders to bolster their defensive line.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars Via Los Angeles Rams

1c3: C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida

Jacksonville uses their second pick in the first round to snag a cornerback. They traded away Jalen Ramsey, which left them thin at the position. They grab the best corner available in C.J. Henderson, and he, along with Simmons and last year's first-round pick Josh Allen make up a very intriguing young core.

Dobbs: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama

The Jaguars would be getting great value for their pick here seeing as Trevon Diggs could immediately come in and fill the void of Jalen Ramsey from last season. His size, athleticism and zone coverage ability make give him the potential to be a quality starter for many years.

21. Philadelphia Eagles

1c3: Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama

Ruggs will likely run one of the fastest 40 times of the wide receiver class. With Philadelphia desperately needing wide receivers, they got one of the best in the class in Ruggs.

Dobbs: Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama

Henry Ruggs III is going to shatter the NFL combine with his amazing speed and agility, everyone who has been watching him already knows this. In most other draft classes Ruggs III would be your #1 receiver, but due to the amazing depth of the receivers in this class, he falls to the #3 WR. Oh and to put it simply, the Eagles are in complete need of some receiving talent.

22. Buffalo Bills

1c3: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson

Higgins is a big-bodied receiver that can quickly become Josh Allen’s favorite target. With Buffalo lacking size on the perimeter, Higgins and his huge catch radius make a lot of sense for the Bills.

Dobbs; Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado

Laviska Shenault Jr. is another receiver in this class who is built to make an impact from day 1 on the NFL field. He is fast, agile and has a great catch radius. He is kind of a unique type of player when you watch him on film. He will fit in great with the Bills who are in desperate need of more offensive weapons. They could use him not only out wide but also as a slot threat.

23. New England Patriots

1c3: K'lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU

Chaisson was wildly inconsistent at LSU, but like Arden Key a few years ago, he showed flashes of being a great pass rusher. If Chaisson is still on the board at this point, Belichick’s mouth will be watering.

Dobbs: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson

Tee Higgins is a great physical threat at wideout. His ability to go up and get the jump balls, as well as his RAC ability, make him a promising young target. Some may assume after last year's first-round selection of a WR that the Patriots would look elsewhere in the draft this year. But after last year I think it's obvious the Patriots are still in need of some major help in that area.

24. New Orleans Saints

1c3: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State

All three New Orleans Saints quarterbacks hit free agency. Even if they bring back two of them, it makes sense to bring in a young quarterback that can eventually take the reigns for Drew Brees. Love is a little raw but can sit a year or two before he makes his first career start.

Dobbs; Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU

Justin Jefferson is a pick that really only makes sense if the Saints make it here. The reason simply being that Jefferson already spent the last entire season of his college career running routes from the Saints offense, led by Joe Brady who used to be a part of the Saints coaching staff (now the Panthers offensive coordinator). Regardless, Jefferson is still a great route runner and a physical receiver who can go up and high point balls, which is exactly what the Saints are in need of.

25. Minnesota Vikings

1c3: Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU

Jeff Gladney was really impressive for TCU this season. Although he missed a few games due to injury, he held his own against NFL caliber wide receivers, including Denzel Mims from Baylor and Colin Johnson from Texas. Minnesota's corners were awful last season, so adding Gladney here makes a ton of sense.

Dobbs: C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida

C.J. Henderson would fill a much-needed hole for the Vikings at cornerback. Henderson excels in man to man situations and would fit very well in the Vikings defense. His ceiling is very high and with the right coaching, he could become a formidable cornerback threat.

26. Miami Dolphins Via Houston Texans

1c3: Tyler Biadisz, IOL, Wisconsin

Miami simply couldn’t run the ball effectively last year. When Ryan Fitzpatrick, a 40-year-old quarterback is your leading rusher, that’s a major problem. Adding Biadisz, who blocked for 2X Doak Walker award winner Jonathan Taylor, should help protect Tua and also get the run game going again.

Dobbs: A.J. Epenesa, EDGE, Iowa

The Dolphins are in ample need of some pass-rushing help and selecting A.J. Epenesa here could be a huge steal if he is still on the board. Epenesa has looked very solid against multiple good offensive lines throughout his college career and has a chance to prove he can be a dominant pass rusher in the NFL.

27. Seattle Seahawks

1c3: A.J. Terell, CB, Clemson

The Seattle Seahawks biggest need is their offensive line. However, there isn't a lineman good enough to be taken here. I expect them to trade down here, but if they keep it, they could go corner. A.J. Terell had an awful performance in the CFP National title game but did enough during the regular season to cement himself as a guy who should go in the first few rounds.

Dobbs: Marlon Davidson, EDGE, Auburn

The Seahawks selecting Marlon Davidson here would probably be their best value. Davidson can play the edge or inside of the D-line and is efficient at both. He could serve as a replacement to Jarran Reed who will likely be on a new team via free agency and give this team some pass rush help.

28. Baltimore Ravens

1c3: Curtis Weaver, EDGE, Boise State

This has been Baltimore’s guy since the start of draft talk. Weaver knows his role and does his job well. Sack the quarterback. The Ravens have reportedly thrown Matthew Judon on the trading block, which paves the way for them to grab Weaver here.

Dobbs: Curtis Weaver, EDGE, Boise State

29. Tennessee Titans

1c3: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

Murray is another guy who wasn’t very consistent but showed flashes of being a productive linebacker in the future. Wesley Woodyard is a free agent, which opens the door for the Titans to grab a guy who has the potential to make an impact.

Dobbs: J.K. Dobbins, RB, OSU

J.K. Dobbins is selected here to replace Derrick Henry who will likely receive a ridiculous payday from another team in free agency this off-season. Dobbins is the most NFL ready running back out of this class. He should be able to handle a heavy load of snaps in his rookie campaign. His burst and ability to break tackles combined with his pass-catching ability make him the full package in today’s league.

30. Green Bay Packers

1c3: Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado

The run on wider receivers continues with the Packers taking Laviska Shenault. With Green Bay needing to add firepower on offense, it doesn’t get much better than Shenault. Great out of the slot and gives Aaron Rodgers a much-needed weapon.

Dobbs: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

The Packers snagging Kenneth Murray here may seem like a bit of a reach, seeing as lots of analysts view him more as a day 2 kind of talent. However, his upside and the fact that Blake Martinez may leave in free agency, make him the perfect guy to snag in this spot.

31. San Francisco 49ers

1c3: Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama

I don’t know much about Xavier McKinney, but I do know that the 49ers need to upgrade their secondary. McKinney is the best defensive back available, and he looks to make an impact on the NFC Champs.

Dobbs: Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama

Xavier McKinney is a defensive back who could bring a lot of value to 49ers from day 1 especially selected this far back. He is a hard-hitting safety with a terrific football IQ who can play multiple positions in the secondary. A perfect value pick here for a team that came very close to winning the Super Bowl just a few weeks ago.

32. Kansas City Chiefs

1c3: J.K. Dobbins, RB, OSU

Dobbins had a phenomenal year and was a major reason for Ohio State’s success on offense. He’s not the fastest or strongest guy, but the dude knows how to run the football. With Kansas City likely parting with LeSean McCoy, Dobbins could slide into the backup role behind Damien Williams.

Dobbs: Cesar Ruiz, IOL, Michigan

Cesar Ruiz to the Chiefs makes a lot of sense. He was the best IOL in college football last season and could be exactly what the Chiefs need. Aside from Mitchell Schwartz, their O-line isn’t anything special and bolstering it could make Patrick Mahomes even more incredible than he already is. Obviously, protecting Mahomes in it of itself should be priority #1 and selecting Ruiz in this spot knowing he can be a day 1 starter at guard or center for the team just makes too much sense if he is still available.

2. Chicago Bears

1c3: Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

God Damn it not again.
