5 Bold Predictions for the 2020 NFL Season

We all have our interesting, or for some, “far out” predictions for the NFL season, and I’m here to give you some to look out for this upcoming year.

5. The Indianapolis Colts will win the AFC South

The AFC South has three teams that are kind of looked at in all the same ways right now (Houston, Indy and Tennessee), then there’s the one depressing squad in the Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead of going the traditional route of believing in the AFC champion runner up Titans, or Deshaun Watson’s Texans, I’m riding with Phillip Rivers and his veteran savvy being integral towards leading this young Colts team to the playoffs. They have plenty of firepower on offense to go around, and Rivers is going to sling it. Star middle linebacker, Darius Leanard (better known as the maniac) will continue to be a leader on this defense.

4. The Los Angeles Rams will finish the season with less than 7 wins

The Rams really don’t impress me this year, and it doesn’t help that they have potentially three playoff contenders in their division (Seattle, San Francisco, and Arizona). Their backfield lost Todd Gurley, and the departure of Brandin Cooks is brutal for their receiving core which only adds weight onto the shoulders of Woods and Kupp. Even with Donald and Ramsey on defense, the former juggernaut struggled. I expect those struggles to continue, and that being said, I don’t see the Rams topping 7 wins in 2020.

3. The Steelers, Bills and Broncos will occupy the three AFC Wild card spots

**REMINDER : NFL changed playoff format to 7 teams in each conference**

These three teams have lots to prove with new additions, and healthy squads coming back. Steelers were embarrassing offensively last year, the Broncos added the most outright offensive talent of any team in the league this offseason with the addition of Jerry Jeudy and Melvin Gordon, and the Bills added a Star WR in Stefon Diggs. Buffalo also retained their stacked defense to compliment Coach McDermott’s 3-4 scheme. As far as Pittsburg is concerned, I expect “slim” Ben Roethlisberger to lead a hungry team to the playoffs once again.

2. Chase Young beats rookie sack record of 14.5

I was super high on Young’s talent when I saw him dominate at Ohio State. From draft day, I knew whoever drafted Young was getting a stud right away, and he will excel on this young defensive line this year. Not only will he make the Washington defense better immediately, but I believe he will get just above 14.5 sacks and break the rookie sack record.

1. Kyler Murray will win NFL MVP

Anyone who has talked to me knows why this prediction is here. I have loved everything the Arizona Cardinals have done in the offseason to help Murray out, and it is going to pay off big time. The MVP of the past two seasons has been a sophomore QB, and I believe that will continue when Kyler explodes for 4,200+ passing yards, 430+ rushing yards and 30+ total touchdowns. The Cardinals will be a threat because of Kyler Murray in 2020.

Strong comments! I love your rationale but one thing I disagree with is Indianapolis Colts winning the AFC south. The Colts will be lucky to finish with an eight win season.
